Soazig Pian

Soazig Pian is a phd student at the Costel Laboratory (Umr 6554, “Littoral, environnement, télédétection, géomatique,” Letg) of Rennes 2 University. Her work focuses on the geomorphologic evolution of the highly touristic South Brittany coasts over different time and space scales. It aims at developing a quantitative multi-factorial approach based on spatial analyses principles, to analyze coastline variations in a context of growing “artificialization” of both the coast and the process controlling its behavior. These research projects also attempt to examine short-term topographic and morphodynamic evolutions of South Brittany beaches. Through this analysis, these research projects aim at identifying the various factors controlling coastal evolution over different time and space scales, as well as their interrelationships. These analyses are used in order to discuss the coast’s vulnerability in the face of coastline retreat.
