Louise Carlier est membre du Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires Démocratie, Institutions et Subjectivité (Cridis) de l’Université Catholique de Louvain et coordinatrice scientifique au sein du METROLAB.brussels. Docteure en sociologie de l’Université Libre de Bruxelles, elle a défendu une thèse consacrée à la ville cosmopolite.

Contemporary approaches to cosmopolitanism tend to be situated between two poles: a descriptive one and a normative one, which often draw upon a classical sociological approach to cosmopolitanism.
