Hugues François

Hugues François is an Irstea’s researcher in the field of tourism focusing on ski resorts topics in the scope of territorial development. His previous work particularly examined mid-mountains’ resorts’ dynamics and the diversification of tourism services or resorts’ history and their local development. Currently, he is the manager of the French “BD Stations”, which collect and organize data about ski resorts in various fields from local governance to ski-lift characteristics. A friendly user interface has been developed to explore information from the database online at http://www.observatoire-stations.fr. Recent works aim to assess the impacts of climate change on ski areas and the vulnerability of tourism in resorts.
